He was born in Izmir in 1954. After completing his high-school studies at Lycee Saint Joseph, he studied at Liege University. He has been the general manager of Ruba Zippers and Steel Products Company since 1984. He is married and has two children. Photography, which was of interest to him since his years in school, became an indispensable hobby. He participated in numerous group exhibitions as a member of IFOD; he also had solp exhibitions including “Myster of Nature”, “The Carnival of Venice” (2009), “Citizens of the World” (2011), “Hong Kong Cityscape” (2013). In 2012, his work “Izmir Sephardic Weddings from Yesterday to Our Day” was exhibited in Izmir, Istanbul, and Paris. He presented his photographs as slide shows titled “Do You Know The Butterflies?”, “Life in Hong Kong”, “Jak’s Friends”, “Madagascar”, “Citizens of the World” and “Venice”. Bonfil is still a member of IFOD. He realized the photography project “Tolerance in Izmir” with A. Beyhan Özdemir and Ali Işık which was – rewarded by Izmir Metropolitan Manicipality in the category of historic environment and cultural heritage.
